Philip Arnold
Philip Arnold is the Senior Director of Quantum Consulting Accountants and takes
a leading role in Financial Director services and Business reviews. He has 17 years
of experience as a Finance Director and Chief Executive within a Plc. He has also
negotiated and led the acquisitions of limited companies and business divisions
and managed their subsequent integration into the structures of the acquiring companies.
He has helped start up businesses to become established and to achieve substantial
early stage growth. Philip has also helped SMEs to grow and to achieve a successful
exit by way of a corporate sale to new investors. In addition he is well placed
to help SMEs find new capital through new investors or new loan capital. Philip
is a pragmatic profit focussed FCA, sensitive to both the long term and medium term
results of any planned change. He has highly developed innovation and commercial
skills gained through real world experience. He has over 30 years of experience
in a diverse group of companies ranging from some of the largest global consulting
organisations, such as IBM, Arthur Andersen and KPMG, to membership focussed bodies
such as the Institute of Directors, the Chartered Management Institute and the Institute
of Consulting. Along the way he has gained extensive hands on experience within
the SME sector. He has worked on major projects with the following high profile clients:

He became a member of the Institute of Management Consulting in 1989 and a Fellow
of the institute in 1994. He joined the Institute of Directors (IOD) in 2000 and
achieved a distinction in their diploma examinations in 2004. In 2005 he was awarded
the status of Chartered Director by the Institute of Directors to become one of
only 1,000 Chartered Directors in the UK.
He has very strong professional skills, as evidenced by his FCA and Chartered Director
qualification. In addition he is a very hands on person with an unswerving focus
on getting the job done in the best possible way, given the time constraints.
Prior to his employment Mr. Arnold studied at University College London and graduated
in 1979 with an Upper Second Honours degree in Chemistry, with Mathematics and Physics
as subsidiary subjects. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1983 and became
a Fellow of the institute in July 2002.
Jeremy Wilson
Jeremy Wilson is a Chartered Management Accountant with a wealth of experience within
e-Commerce & Multi-channel marketing, with more than 12 years at director level
in multi-channel retail organisations. He has a broad background that ranges from
owner managed small retail chains through Blue Chip retailing and Management Consultancy
with one of the “Big 4”. He is that rare breed that blends commercial flair and
creativity with insightful analytical skills; this enables him to be extremely commercially
aware, and able to identify the right “levers” to deliver the best results. An excellent
communicator and motivator he is a good team player and more than happy to be hands
on when required. He has been associated with Quantum since it originally started
in 1994.
Over the last 25 years he has fulfilled a number Finance Director and eCommerce
roles within a range of companies including:
- John Lewis Partnership –Multi-Channel team leader, responsible for creating
and developing trading initiatives to deliver strategic £1bn on-line objective.
These included the use of mobile technology in-store to promote multichannel trade,
revised promotions strategy, increased range on-line, expanded delivery options
and unified returns policy.
- Practicology (Martin Newman) – Associate Consultant
- Javelin Group – Associate Consultant.
- Amoena Worldwide – eCommerce platform RFP creation and selection leading to development
of multi-channel strategy.
- Pentland Brands plc. – Head of e-Commerce: Brand management wholesalers Brands included
Speedo, Berghaus, Kickers and Mitre. The provision of e-commerce expertise to develop,
manage and trade transactional websites
- Harris Watson Holdings – Multi-Channel Director/Brand Director within a privately
owned investment group, which included; Viyella, Jumper, Lyle & Scott and SockShop
in its retail portfolio. Created multi-channel trading and assisted in profit maximisation
and rationalisation of fascia and management structure across the retail brands.
- Long Tall Sally Ltd. – Multi-channel & Finance Director within this leading specialist
fashion retailer catering for tall women, T/O £25m. A multi-channel offering with;
26 stores, concessions, eCommerce and Catalogue
- Shelly’s Shoes Ltd - High Fashion Shoe Retailer and Wholesaler. T/O £25M. Conducted
strategic overview of the business in conjunction with finance providers. This resulted
in the proposal that shareholder value would be best realised by a trade sale. Subsequently
Numerica were retained and the business sold to Stylo-Barrett; fashion shoe retailers
and wholesalers.
- Boden - Finance & eCommerce Director for this Multi-Channel Clothing Retailer. Initiated
and developed reports examining product profitability at segment and style level;
resulting in significant changes to strategic direction. Developed 12 month rolling
seasonal forecasting at product range level. Assumed control of company website
launch ensuring full integration of offer and approach to existing channels. Managed
the acquisition of new warehouse and office premises
